What this board compares

Each row is a trait, judged from its published chance, pity, and stat line. Monarch and Ethereal are both top of that list for different placement caps. Unit damage tiers from before Update 15.0 are not reprinted here, because the anniversary changed modes, damage numbers, and the roster.

Which Vanguards: 2nd Anniversary boards are on this hub?

Two jobs, two lists. Open a child page for the long table. This hub is the snapshot.

Tiertraits11 ranked rows.

S tier

traitsMonarch0.1% with pity at 1,500. Adds 300% damage, cuts SPA by 10%, adds 5% range, and sets placement to 1. The published placement-cap row goes from +344.4% damage at cap 1 down to -25.9% at cap 6.

Player decision Best damage trait for a unit that already places only once. Skip it as a default when the unit wants three or more copies on the field.

traitsEthereal0.175% with pity at 858. Adds 20% damage, cuts SPA by 20%, and adds 5% range. The trait page says this out-damages Monarch on units with a placement cap of 3 or more.

Player decision Preferred damage trait when you place the unit several times. Cost, passives, and ability cooldowns can still make Monarch better on a single copy.

A tier

traitsDeadeye0.375% with pity at 400. Adds 45% critical rate and 50% critical damage. No flat damage or range line is listed.

Player decision Take it on a unit that already crits. It is the wrong pity target if the unit has no crit scaling.

traitsSolar0.5% with pity at 300. Adds 10% damage, cuts SPA by 5%, and adds 25% range.

Player decision Best general stop if you cannot afford Ethereal or Monarch pity and the unit needs range.

traitsBlitz1.85%, about 1 in 54. Cuts SPA by 20%. No pity is listed.

Player decision Keep it on a unit whose value is attack speed when you are not ready to roll past it toward Ethereal.

B tier

traitsFortune2.5%, 1 in 40. Adds 20% income, and the trait page also lists 10% lower cost on non-farm units.

Player decision Use it on the unit you place for money. Replace it on a damage unit once you can hold Solar or better.

traitsMarksman6.5%, about 1 in 15. Adds 30% range, which is more range than Solar, with no damage or SPA.

Player decision A hold for a unit that cannot reach the lane. Solar is the upgrade when you can afford its pity, because Solar also adds damage and attack speed.

C tier

traitsScholar10%, 1 in 10. Adds 50% unit EXP.

Player decision Useful while a unit is still leveling in Exp Rush. Replace it after the level you need is done.

D tier

traitsVigor26% to land the family. Tier I is +5% damage, II is +10%, III is +15%. The sub-rates are 13%, 8%, and 5%.

Player decision A temporary damage roll. Do not stop a pity chase on Vigor III.

traitsSwift26% to land the family. Tier I cuts SPA by 5%, II by 7.5%, III by 12.5%.

Player decision Keep tier III only if you have no Blitz or Ethereal yet. Blitz is a flat 20% SPA cut.

traitsRange26% to land the family. Tier I is +5% range, II is +10%, III is +15%.

Player decision A stopgap until Marksman or Solar. Tier III is half of Marksman's range bonus.

FAQ

Vanguards: 2nd Anniversary ranking questions

Why is there no unit tier list?

Public unit rankings from early October still describe Update 13.0 names and roles. Update 15.0 changed story structure, towers, and damage numbers. This board stays on traits, where the published effects are specific.
